Oddero Langhe Nebbiolo 2018
Very pleasing and fresh ‘baby Barolo’ Oddero’s Langhe Nebbiolo never fails to impress. The 2018 has loads of bright red cherry, raspberry and rose characters with some orange peel to create an exciting and energetic palate. It has very good acid and mouth puckering tannins that should soften nicely with a few years in bottle but the wine is already drinking very well. Nick, FWC.
I thought I’d opened the 2016 Barolo Classico, then had a quick taste and thought “Well, that’s a bit different!”. It’s made in a more approachable style for sure, with a touch of spicy coffee oak influence showing over bright cherry and liquorice flavour. It’s bright and fresh, supple though, and for a 2018, shows decent ripeness of tannin too, along with a gentle earthiness, a solid flavour base, with just a little tackiness and furry tannin gripping in on the finish. Drink 2020-2027. 91 Points. Gary Walsh - The Wine Front.
