Syrah from the Tamar Valley/St Matthias Vineyard. The rise of Tasmanian shiraz continues apace. It has all the hallmarks of cool climate shiraz and all of them are presented in a positive context here. Go forth and drink well. It’s a mid-weight wine with washy, juicy flavours of red cherry, undergrowth, white pepper and cured meats. It feels effortless; the word seamless is apt; there’s not a raised stitch anywhere to be seen. 92+ points. Drink 2018-2024. – Campbell Mattinson, Wine Front.
