Michel Gonet Blanc de Noirs NV

The best new discovery in Champagne this year. Champagne prices are rising, so this is pretty great quality for the price, we think. 100% Pinot Noir which gives the wine a red fruited core with ample ripeness. It shows pink lady apple and cranberry as well as a hint of sun-kissed orchard fruit. While there is some richness in the middle palate, aided by some autolytic character, the low dosage means that the original generosity of the wine is tamed and brought in tight at the close. It’s a great balance here between fruit weight and a dry, almost chalky finish. We’re very happy to have been introduced to this producer.
