Maximin Grunhaus Alte Reben Riesling 2016
Cool and fresh bouquet which promises great juicyness on the palate. Aromas of peaches, ripe apples, red cassis and lime fruits dominate the nose, joined by fine herbal hints. On the palate the wine is concentrated, precise and juicy. The perfect balance between sugar and acidity makes your mouth water. The long finish leaves impressions of salty minerality.
The ”Old Vines” fruit for this wine comes from the Abtsberg & Herrenberg vineyards & successfully attempts to give GG quality at a much lower price. With approx. 12 g/l of sugar, it presents as dry with a fuller mid palate. Fresh, crystalline and beautifully balanced. As prices have been going up, this looks to be great value. Drink and cellar no problem – another 10 years easy. Ian Cook
