Main Ridge Chardonnay 2019
A Chardonnay that definitely sits at the bigger, fuller end of the spectrum, but with balance and poise in spades. It’s a big delivery of aroma and flavour right from the start, with nougat, banana leaf, wood spice, golden peach and nectarine all on show. The concentration of power is where the quality of fruit really shows, and this builds onto a powerful and drawn-out finish that goes for miles. If you’re fans of Chardonnays from the likes of Savaterre, By Farr and Giaconda, this will be right up your alley. – Ches Cook, FWC.
Great data sheets from Main Ridge. Great. Wild yeast ferment, six hours skin contact, good times. Beautiful release. Has fat and length but control. That softness, succulence, nice seasoning of oak, pretty in sweet spice and cashew nuttiness, green apple, light nectarine characters and a cute little twist of grapefruity acidity to finish. Very controlled, very complete, generousity with freshness on side. Elegance personified and beautiful ease to drinking. What charm! Drink 2020 - 2030+. 95+ Points. Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
