La Ca' Nova Barbaresco 2017
Best value Barbaresco in the shop!!!
Red garnet, red fruit – a little compote of strawberry and plum with a hint of orange. Beautiful up front fruit on the palate then a seamless move into dry, austere chalky tannins. Quite fine and elegant. Needs food with a little fat. Ian Cook, FWC.
“Well, I don’t know, but 2017 is looking pretty solid for Barbaresco from limited tastings thus far. Anyway, La Ca’ Növa rides again! Textbook Barbaresco of finesse, vibrant red fruits, spice, dried herb and floral appeal. It’s tight and ‘mineral’ with a stony feel, a little almond and new leather, freshness, and excellent length. Needs a little time to relax, but it’s a lucid and expressive beauty that gets you involved from the get go. And a dead set bargain, all things considered. Drink 2022- 2030.” 95 points. Gary Walsh, The Wine Front.
