JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese Goldkap 2013
Usually the site that throws up the vintage release fireworks, for me. WS is set on blue slate ‘soil’, very rocky and very steep.
Reserved perfume but still plenty of detail here – toffee apples, ginger spice, preserved lemon, mineral water on smooth pebbles. Delicacy yet depth. To taste, a different story; epic concentration of flavour yet all that volume is set in a neat, acid-etched, dart-shaped trim of wine. It’s insanely long in flavour, cool, yet very honeyed and rich, sits high in the palate and shows power with class on hand. Remarkable, really. 96 Points, Drink 2015-2030 - Mike Bennie, The Wine Front
