JJ Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese 2016
The 2016 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese is clear, fresh and vegetal/floral on the pretty complex but clear and refreshingly flinty nose. Bottled with 8.5% alcohol, this is a lush, piquant and well-structured Auslese with good grip and a perceptible sweetness. The finish is intense and complex and reveals a firm mineral structure. 94 points, Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate #236
Most of the above wines are very pale in colour – this one has quite a lot of green reflection. Massive blackcurrant pastille nose with savoury spice, rhubarb and spiced red apple. WOW. Lots of extra weight and concentration dancing with layers of fruit intensity with a long, long coiled finish, from the underlying acidity. Purity plus. My favourite. Ian Cook.
