Bright green gold colour. Lots of savoury brown spices – cardamom (probably some on the duck) and grilled stone fruit. Next to me others were seeing soy – they talked me into it. A real sweet attack to the wine – coming from that sugar/acid balance – more acid here than in the 2016 wines. Sweet, sour, savoury notes plus acid drive. A special wine. Ian Cook, FWC.
The 2012 Graacher Himmelreich Auslese opens clear, cool, precise, smoky and very elegant on the nose. Light but intense and very elegant on the palate this delicious, racy and stimulatingly piquant and grippy Riesling reveals great balance. Gorgeous already, but still good in 20 or 30 years. 94 points, Stephan Reinhardt, The Wine Advocate #217
