Henschke Tappa Pass Shiraz 2017
Very good colour; the cool vintage has produced a finely wrought, intense and powerful wine with a special array of forest berry/dark spices and hints of sweet earth. The palate is very long and persistent, and has perfect balance of fruit, oak and tannins. 97 Points, Drink to 2042. James Halliday's Wine Companion
Barossa shiraz. All French oak, 30% new. From two vineyards at Tappa Pass and Light Pass respectively. It somehow manages to be both burly and neat at once. It’s a touch boozy as well though it’s generally well balanced and is inherently satisfying. Blackberry, raspberry jam, sweet earth and peppercorn flavours. A touch of asphalt too. I like this, it’s a wine of substance, but the asking price builds certain expectations and I’m not sure it’s quite up to them. 92 Points, Drink 2021-2030+. Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front
