Henri Gouges Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Les Saint Georges 2014
burgundy,
france
$300
I know I often drink the wines too young, however I love the wines of Henri Gouges (not nearly popular enough with my customers). They are pretty old fashioned and certainly firm in their youth. However, with 6 years plus in the cellar, I find them delightful and full of autumnal damp earth and rich leathery notes. The firmness all melded into the complete article. I have consumed both the Village wines and Les St-Georges from 2007 & 2008 this year and loved them. The 2014 vintage is recommended for those who can wait. Not for drinking now. The Bruno Colin & Mongeard-Mugneret look better young. Please try to keep the Mongeard wines also. - Ian Cook, FWC
