Giaconda Nantua Les Deux Shiraz 2019
Giaconda Shiraz is often overlooked despite it's track record as a seriously great wine and this is no different. The team here was immediately in love with this, particularly as the price is so darn good. Intensely fragrant, it shows brambly, wild blackberry, black cherry, light brown spices and a touch of green olive. It's serious, yet wholly medium bodied with fine, detailed tannin that persists and creates a little chew at the back palate. A noticeable freshness, specifically to the fruit, and a hint of brine really lifts the wine. Highly recommended here. Jeremy Muller, FWC.
Saturated deep crimson hue: developing secondary notes of undergrowth washing through the briary laden black currant and black cherry fruit. Forest floor notes are further enhanced by the presence of black pepper, graphite and a spicy oak orange zest infusion. Time in bottle has enabled it to put on weight: now quite rich with a touch of briar and olive tapenade adding to the palate. The fine integrated savoury tannins giving a clear frame to the wine and ensuring it lingers on the palate. Cellaring: 3-10 years. Winery Notes.
