William Downie 'Mornington Peninsula' Pinot Noir 2016
2016 was a warm-to-hot vintage and also very dry. This is reflected in this wine with a bit more concentration of fruit than is common for Bill’s Pinots. There’s rhubarb, poached pears, beetroot and sinew with great depth and a bit of muscle lying below the surface. This will age superbly but already shows quite a few complex flavours rounded by tight and fine tannins. – Ches Cook, FWC.
