Pignier’s estate, biodynamic stuff has the world’s attention, especially this amazing Percenette Chardonnay bottling that can be compared to the best in Burgundy. The intensity and style of these hand-crafted wines is marvellous, with mineral intensity, dynamic acidity and grippy leesy depth. This non oxidative wine is just plain gorgeous. Grown on ancient blue limestone of the 'En Boivin' plot and native yeast fermented, it has the vitality and vigour you dream about in white Burgundy. It is raised on fine lees in used 225 litre barrels purchased from Coche-Dury in Burgundy. Starts with zesty citrus, chalk, white flowers and cool mineral tones which lead to a palate of vibrant lemon, lime blossom, wet stones and flinty spice along with hints of clove, pear and yellow fig. Importer Notes.
Salted nuts, ripe apple, lemon balm and faint gingery notes. Supple texture, more savoury, saline, nutty characters here, good intensity of flavour, green apple brightness too, texture and length, excellent mouthfeel and general vibe. Lush, lively and complex. It’s a bolder chardonnay but with boundaries. I really like it. 93 Points. Mike Bennie, The Wine Front.
