DJP Petalos Mencia 2018
Continental climate Mencia tends to be fuller fleshed with longer, softer tannins. Named after Alvaro Palcios’ father, Jose Palacios Remondo, this is a very exciting project, producing wines of vivid fruit and wild herb, fragrant, intense-but-delicate wines. Alvaro and his nephew Ricardo Perez, have renovated amazing steep sloped, very high altitude old vineyards into biodynamic masterpieces. This is the entry level wine and it’s a beauty, rippling with slippery bright red fruits, wood spice and jamon. It is fresh, fine and expressive. Recommended. FWC.
