A bit of black pepper and plum fruit on the nose, leading to a deep and layered palate full of substance. Ripeness levels seem to be spot-on and the wine shows a huge amount of elegance and class, with silky red fruits skimming across the palate with ample amounts of finesse and a finely-grained texture. Blackberry, mulberry and hints of clove make up the guts of the wine, and in keeping with the style of Dalwhinnie, the wine is long and firmly structured at the back. This looks like a great Shiraz and with this amount of concentration, it will live well over ten years in the cellar. – Ches Cook, FWC.
