Incredible power and concentration here, and yet, still lithe and so finely wrought. It’s ultra-mineral in feel with iron and dense graphite tannin, but perfumed and spice-laden too. The quality and feel of tannin here is something quite extraordinary. Plum and dark cherry, dark tobacco, whiff of empty chocolate box, superb length of flavour. Essence of Cabernet. Essential Cabernet. We’ve never had it so good. Drink 2026 – 2050+. 98 points. – Gary Walsh, Wine Front.
The Diana Madeline casts a big shadow, such is its presence, but we like to look in those darkened corners and shine a light to find something that twinkles, and the younger sibling to the 'DM' – the estate Cabernet Merlot – from the same miraculous vintage, 2019, sparkles ever so brightly. This is a stunning wine, and a breathtaking value. Indeed, it has a long life ahead of it, too. It is bursting with classic Margaret River fruit, with cedar, spice, mulberries, currants, dark cherries and a lilting varietal fragrance. It's a cracking wine and one that needs time to settle in, such is its seriousness. This has decades in it, but it's a pleasure now, too, but just needs a good decant to show all its fireworks. Great buying, and quite the solace while the 'DM' slumbers over its many decades of cellaring.
