The new 2018 Crawford River Riesling is looking fantastic. It’s a powerful wine with deep concentration of flavour and firm yet fleshy acidity. There is a lot of fruit weight here and while the Young Vines Riesling shows bright citrus flavours, the flavour spectrum here is more in the realm of lemon curd, lemon balm and even hints of stone fruit. There is a gradual build of texture and weight too, from the front of the wine all the way to the back, reinforcing the firm presence the wine holds. Already a great drink and destined to age very, very well over 15+ years. You can easily line this up along some top end German Riesling at double the price. – Ches Cook, FWC.
