Crawford River Cabernet Sauvignon 2010
This is the first vintage under screwcap, as Belinda wanted to preserve the fresh red fruit lift of the vintage. It really benefited from a quick splash in the decanter when tasted in July 2017. 100% whole berries, with about 15% seeing extended maceration for 6 weeks to enhance mid palate fruit weight. Great purity of dark blackberry and blackcurrant fruit alongside lifted raspberry and violet top notes. There is a backdrop of cigar box and brown spice (mace, allspice) and the tannin is perfectly pitched between silky and grainy/chalky. Delicious now but will be even better for those with patience. – FWC.
