Charles Van Canneyt Bourgogne Rouge 2018

Charles Van Canneyt is the head winemaker at esteemed Domaine Hudelot-Noellat. This is his side-gig. A nose of red fruits and brown stem, savoury and slightly reserved aromatically. The palate shows cherry pip, spiced cherry and mulberry, but underneath this is a distinctly rocky and mineral feel to the wine. This takes you to the limestone soils of Burgundy and adds a whole heap of interest. Characteristics you generally don't see in Aussie Pinot. Very good, especially at this price. - Ches COok, FWC.
