Castro Martin 'Sobre Lias' Albarino 2020
Nice nose of white florals, orchard fruit and citrus gives way to a palate showing white pach, jasmine and citrus peel. The palate has a touch more stuffing than other Albarinos we are familiar with, with the time spent on lees ('sobra lias') contributing to this. It's gained some waxiness and a slight lactic tone which has filled the mid-palate out nicely. Overall a fresh and reasonably simple drink - just like Albarino should be. - Ches Cook, FWC.
Beautiful savoury pear, with yellowed straw and apple cider on the nose, and CM's trademark smooth-fruited journey in the mouth. Almost certainly the most savoury CM yet, it is a little richer than usual, but the full-fruitedness is textural rather than fruity as such, with apple-skin fruit tannins tucking everything in and the lees ageing for savoury mouthfeel. Pear-apple 'two fruits' plus nectar florals and super texture, hmmm ... it's a dead-set beaut! Importer Notes.
