The Comm. G.B. Burlotto 2017 Barolo Acclivi (with 7,000 bottles produced) represents a blend of selected fruit from various sites around Verduno, including old vines in Monvigliero, Neirane, Bocato and Rocche dell’Olmo. The wine shows that electric and jazzed quality that we see from the other wines in this portfolio, only here you get additional concentration and structure at the back. That muscle power is actually quite contained, but given the context of these super fine and nuanced wines, Acclivi shows special determination. To the palate, this wine delivers a more lasting structural and textural impact. Drink 2024-2044. 95 Points. Monica Larner, The Wine Advocate.
Verduno. 'The difference with the straight Barolo [of the same vintage] is that there is more freshness and a better balance, and it is much slower in its evolution.’ Lustrous mid ruby with the beginning of orange tinges. Dark spice and brooding cherry. A hint of black pepper. Compact, fine cherry fruit with perfectly integrated, lively acidity followed by a layer of long powdery tannins. Very promising but right now embryonic. Drink 2022-2034. 17+/20, Walter Speller, jancisrobinson.com.
