Bouchard Beaune du Chateau 1er Cru Rouge 2019
Note: the first vintage for this wine was in 1907 and the heart of it is composed by Les Aigrots though there are as many as 16 other 1ers included, that comprise a whopping 26 ha, depending on the vintage; in 2019 there were a total of 17 1ers.
This is decidedly riper with its aromas of poached plum, mocha, black cherry liqueur and anise. The delicious middle weight flavors possess very good energy and richness while exhibiting fine length on the dusty bitter cherry pit-inflected finale. This mouthcoating effort should be approachable young but age well too over the mid-term. Drink 2027+. 89-92 Points. Allen Meadows, Burghound.
There are 55,000 bottles of the 2019 Beaune 1er Cru du Château, a medium to full-bodied, velvety wine evocative of cherries, smoky plums, spices and dark chocolate. Charming and perfumed, it's an elegant wine that gets my nod as the finest Beaune du Château for some time. William Kelley - The Wine Advocate
