Another superbly intense Volnay at the village level. Certainly more structure and weight than one thinks of in Volnay (don’t forget Leroux is a past master here with his extensive experience at Comte Armand). Dark black and red currant – still quite juicy with a feminine note trying to creep in – it’s Cotes De Beaune trying to be Cotes De Nuits. More red fruits on the palate with a touch of powder room yet savoury and firm on the finish. Terrific. Keep 5-10 years. – Ian Cook, FWC.
