An electric nose that immediately captures your attention. Very aromatic and a real sense of energy to this wine from the very first sniff and taste. It’s clearly a complex, multi-dimensional wine, with flavours and textures coming at you from all angles. Up front it shows flintand pockets of salinity, then white peach, nectarine, melon skin and then a gushing mineral-driven finish. The acid line is taut and long and loaded with further potential. Adrian Rodda makes three Chardonnays each vintage: one from each of the Yarra, Valley, Beechworth and Whitlands. While they’re all very, very good, we think it is the Willowlake that is the real standout this year. – Ches Cook, FWC.
