Jean-Louis Chave 'Mon Coeur' Cotes du Rhone 2019

A blend of Syrah from the cooler southern Rhône villages of Visan and Vinsobres together with Grenache and a little Mourvèdre and Cinsault from Rasteau, Cairanne and Buisson. On the nose and attack a bright, gripping berry fruit with notes of salt, pepper and sandalwood give this a gently northern feel, whilst the generosity warmth and body of the mid palate betrays its more provençal origins, finding its line and shape again to finish sapid and digest. An amazing amount of character and complexity for the price, an abundance of summer berry, sloe, bramble, spice garrigue and saddle leather meld together to give a satisfyingly robust but fresh and moreish Côte du Rhône. Aged in large old oak cask for a year before bottling.
