I'm a huge fan of their whites, but this was the first red I have tried from Ardoisieres and I was equally impressed. Gamay grown on Clay here shows distinct differences to Gamay grown west in Beaujolais - the tannins are finer, more powdery and very persistent. Initially shows plenty of sweet red fruits, but quickly a melange of exotic spice and apricot are exposed. This is bright and lively on the palate but not lacking seriousness nor balance. Very delicious now with a decant but should cellar well. Jeremy Muller, FWC.
