These characters carry through onto the palate which is dense in its layers of fruit which still seem so primary and demanding of time to settle. It's quite a mouthful of fruit and rocky mineral character that sits deep below the surface. There is a slight chew to the tannin which is firm and slightly drying, while remaining tightly grained. Many of these characters, i learn, are inherent of the Chatelots site (and upon reflection, similar traits were seen in the 2012 Barthod Chatelots drunk last year). Overall it's an impressive wine but crying out for some bottle age.
