Moss Wood Cabernet Sauvignon 2016
The best I can recall this wine looking upon release. So expressive yet to chiselled and refined. Hugely aromatic too – I sat there smelling the wine for at least two minutes before even tasting it. A very nice mix of primary blue fruits with graphite, pencil shavings and a slight dusting of dried leaf. It’s supremely elegant and showing a lot of retrained power below the surface. The tannin is savoury and firm but with a huge amount of support from the blue fruits behind it. A real lesson in elegance and sophistication. – Ches Cook, FWC.
Deepish red colour with a good tint of purple, and a bouquet of sweet berries, violets, mulberries and cassis. A fragrant, almost floral cabernet, the elegance of the nose reflected on the palate, which is medium to full-bodied and juicy, delicious and finely-textured. A lovely wine, already drinking well, and a lighter vintage for this maker - but gorgeous. – Huon Hooke, The Real Review: 98 points.
