Tonic Rose 2019

Our favourite Australian rose of the year by a long way. Plenty of interest here, even for those who claim not to like rose. Drinking this over summer, sitting somewhere in the sun and you’re doing well. – Ches Cook, FWC.

No RRP on the bottles, though you’d expect seasoned professionals like the boys from Tonic might get that right. Anyway, we will notch up about 400 reviews this month, a bit less last month (388), somewhat more in April (432). That’s about 5,000 wines a year, give or take, which is a lot of wine, though by no means everything we taste… Strawberry, cherry, a little creamy to smell, orange peel and fennel tips. It’s smooth and gentle, fine powdery texture, fresh strawberry and redcurrant, slightly earthy and savoury, turning fleshy and firm on a solid finish. Great to drink. Well sophisticated.
