Bass Phillip Rose 2018
gippsland,
australia
$28
Small portion in barrel, gently pressed fruit, picked for rosé. Quite incredible that after the fanciness and higher price points of Bass Phillip’s range, here lies this gem of a bargain of a cheapy of a great quality rose wine. Pale orange-pink colour, almost lurid. Scents of white strawberries, fairy floss, blanched almonds, floral things. Juicy in the palate, very fresh feeling, light red berry flavours, lick of granite-like mineral character and a cool, slightly amaro-tinged finish. Very easy to drink, is the message, but a little more going on than expected. 93 points. – Mike Bennie, The Winefront
